In computer engineering, a smartbot (also called a wisebot, sapiobot, or AI-bot) is a program or application on a computing device that exhibits high-functioning artificial intelligence. Such an agent is capable of learning, analyzing, drawing conclusions according to data, and performing informed actions. In addition, smartbots may exhibit a form of computational free will.

Uses

Smartbots can be extremely useful to common users, corporations, app developers, and governments. Due to their extensive intelligence, they can provide humans with important information and assist humans in their technologically enhanced activities. For the common user, smartbots can suggest apps according to the user's interests on smartphones and computers, change the temperature according to a user's request or complaint (e.g. It's too hot in here.) on thermostats, learn languages in order to check grammar and spelling and perform translations in word processors and other text shells and to understand what a user says, play games with users, and fix user mistakes such as accidentally deleting or altering important files. Corporations could use them to analyze who buys what and determine what the majority likes.

Hackbot[]

Some smartbots are used by hackers to find security holes, or vulnerabilities, in electronical systems and to exploit weaknesses in order to obtain sensitive data. Called hackbots or smackbots, these smartbots discover previously unknown gateways to internal systems.
